George “Rodger” Bell , 81, of Springfield, MO, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 23, 2019 in his home after being ill for some time.
Rodger was born in Mannington, West Virginia on June 29, 1937. He was a retired employee of 28 years at Associated Wholesale Grocers. He was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church and was involved in the ministry of Celebrate Recovery (a free ministry to those who have hurts, habits, and hang-ups) at the church. He led a depression group for men for a number of years. Some of the things he loved to do were golf, cooking, watching football, Southern gospel music, collected Mickey Mouse and John Wayne memorabilia and going to concerts. Rodger was mechanically inclined and,could figure out a way to fix anything.
He loved reading the Bible. His favorite book of the Bible was Psalm and he loved Psalm 139. It gave him much comfort.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Henry D. Bell and Jack Bell and sister, Ruth Glover. He is survived by his wife, Carol, favorite son George “Christopher” Bell and his wife Rachell Bell, his beloved daughter, Sandy F. Harrel and her husband, Kevin P. Harrel. Seven grandchildren: Nick, Alyssa, Joshua, Michael, Benjamin, Amanda and Stephen. Six great grandchildren: Gideon, Patrick, Gabriel, Marian, Elian and Aletta. Also 2 brothers: Harlan Bell and Patty, his wife and Tex Bell and his wife, Pegge. He loved his family and his sidekick, Oscar his precious schnauzer.
In lieu of flowers the family requests any memorial contributions be given to Celebrate Recovery. All checks must be made out to Ridgecrest Baptist Church and in memo line designate: Celebrate Recovery (RC)/Rodger Bell (send to address below). A contribution box will be at the Celebration or can be mailed to the address below.
Celebration of Life Reception will be held June 29, 2019 at Ridgecrest Baptist Church 2210 W. Republic Road Springfield, Missouri from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.
