Mr. Charles David Manes, 90, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully at his home on January 14, 2019.
Charles was born in Thayer, Missouri, where he attended high school. He married Carrie Lee Majors Manes on April 22, 1949.
He entered the United States Army in 1946. He served as an aircraft repair technician and retired from the Air Force in 1970. He later worked for Lily Tulip. He enjoyed playing guitar, singing, working on cars, fishing and the outdoors.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Ezra Earl Manes and Emma Manes, and his step-mother Lola Manes, his wife, Carrie Majors Manes; two sons, Terry Manes and David Manes; two daughters, Judith Manes and Geneva Manes; one brother, Robert Manes; and three sisters, Mary Marideth, Anna Manes, and Corrinnia Barnett.
He is survived by the following children: Delores Holifield and Jerry Brown of Imboden, AR; Traci Manes of Pryor, OK; Angela Cullen and Robert Mitts of Springfield, MO; Dixie Bankston and Marc Gruenwald of Springfield, MO;Mary and Daryl Jones of Bolivar, MO.
Other survivors include the following grandchildren: John and Debra Holifield, Scott Holifield, David Manes, Jr., Amanda Manes, Melissa McClellan, April and Robbie Pearson, Rafael and Dominique Anzaldua, Crystal Anzaldua, Greg and Minerva Anzaldua, Teejay and Michelle Manes, Timothy Manes, Randy Manes, Anjelica Manes, Micheal Pratt, Randy and Hailee Dunn, and Kimber Dunn.
Charles was also survived by the following siblings. Norman and Orlanda Trimble of Thayer, MO; Betty Snyder of California; Bill and Pauline Manes of Thayer, MO; Ezra and Janice Manes of Thayer, MO; Tom Manes of Thayer, MO; George and Darlene Manes of Marmaduke, AR; Mary Ann Adams of Thayer, MO; and Sharon and Chuck Decker of Koshkonong, MO..
Visitation will be on Thursday, January 17, 2019, from 6-8 PM, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, and a funeral service on Friday, January 18, at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Moten Cemetery in Moten, AR.
