Carol Gene “Bob” Collins was born March 28, 1931 to Wilburn and Thalia Collins in Springfield Missouri. He departed this life at the Mt Vernon Veterans Home December 1, 2018.
Bob was preceded in life by his parents. He is survived by his wife Joan of Everton, his son Matthew (and Jayna) of Morrisville Missouri, grandson Jacob of Willard Missouri. His sister Caroliene Jones of Springfield Missouri, nephew Cody (and Dana) Jones of Springfield and a host of friends and neighbors.
Bob was drafted at the age of 21 into the Marines. He served 2 years in El Toro California as Range Master. He met Joan while living in California after being discharged from the Marines. They married in 1966. After returning to Missouri Bob followed in his father’s footsteps and became a farmer. He lived the remainder of his life in the Everton area.
The family wants to thank the staff at Mt Vernon Veterans Home for their love and support during Bob’s last days.
