Audrey Ruth (Voris) Gallivan, 96, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home June 17th, 2018. She was born to the late William Earl and Lillie (Roweton) Voris in Halfway, MO. Ruth was saved by the Lord as a young girl and was a member of Halfway Missionary Baptist Church until moving her membership to Schofield Missionary Baptist Church in 1950.
Ruth attended Knapp Elementary School and went on to graduate from Halfway High School in 1941. On December 25th, 1941 she married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, David Lynn Gallivan. After working for Southwestern Bell for a short time during World War II, Ruth settled in, upon David’s return from service, as a homemaker on the family farm. Ruth was an avid gardener, canner, loved planting flowers, playing dominoes and all other games with family. Ruth was involved in a variety of organizations and activities including the Polk County Extension Council, TOPS, Busy Finger Quilting Club, 4-H group leader, PTA, and Sunday School Teacher.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; Earl and Lillie, a sister; Rosie (Voris) Dunseth, a brother; Paul Voris, a sister in law, Norma Jean Robinson and two brothers in law; John Robinson and Jerry F. Gallivan.
Ruth is survived by her husband David, son Jerry Gallivan and wife Jeanette of Halfway, son Robert Gene Gallivan of Overland Park, Kansas, daughter Nancy Ruth (Gallivan) Vest, and husband Junior of Halfway. She is survived by 8 grandchildren and their spouses; Janelle Gallivan, Jimmy & Aimee Gallivan, Jay & Jamie Gallivan, Steven & Sara Gallivan, Russell & Ami Gallivan, Melody & John Siebeneck, Clinton Vest, Kyla & Travis Parsons,; 14 great grandchildren; Caleb Gallivan, Ryan Gallivan, Grayson Gallivan, Ginny Ruth Gallivan, Sloan Gallivan, Samantha Gallivan, Shane Gallivan, Sterling Gallivan, Madison Gallivan, Brody Gallivan, Ashton Siebeneck, Braydon Siebeneck, Abby Parsons & Sydney Parsons. Ruth is survived by two brothers and their spouses; Buster and Barbara Voris of Walnut Grove and Lendell & Pat Voris of Halfway, a brother in law, David Dunseth of Halfway and two sisters in law; Eva Voris of Bolivar and Neta Marie Gallivan of Bolivar, as well as many beloved nieces, nephews and their families. She is also survived by her caregivers; Debbie Labee and Betty Gabbert.
Visitation for Ruth will be held at Pitts Chapel in Bolivar, MO, Tuesday, June 19th from 5:30 – 7:30 PM. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 20th at 10:00 AM, in the chapel, with graveside services immediately following at Schofield Cemetery, Halfway, MO.
