Virginia Grace (Green) Alley, age 91, a long time resident of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on Friday, January 5, 2018. She was born on July 14, 1926, in Callisburg, Texas and spent her childhood living in Texas. She was a graduate of Abilene Christian University, Abilene, Texas, where she met John H. Alley. They married on October 11, 1947 and enjoyed 68 years together. Virginia was a teacher and homemaker and her greatest joy was the over 60 years she served alongside her husband in ministry. Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, John, who passed on January 12, 2016. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jenny Rix, her parents, R.C. and Vivian Green, and two siblings, Adeline Wheeler and Weldon Green. Virginia is survived by her son, David Alley, her daughter, Becky (Kerry) Holton and son-in-law, Charles Rix. She is also survived by two brothers, Bo (Be) Green, R.C. Green, one sister, Glenda Renner, five grandchildren, Kyle (Ginger) Holton, Jared (Catherine) Holton, Susanna (Bryce) Kidwell, Nathan (Kristen) Rix, Abby (David) Degge, five great-grandchildren, Asher, Eli, Eden, Moses and Miriam Holton as well as many other relatives and close friends. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 11, 2018 from 6-8:00 p.m. in Greenlawn Funeral Home South. Services will be Friday, January 12, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Sunset Church of Christ with interment to follow in Hazelwood Cemetery.
