Roy Lynn Seckington, 62 passed away Sunday, November 19, 2017 in Springfield MO. Roy was born on July 2, 1955 to Robert and Lois (Hayden) Seckington in Nevada, MO.

Roy worked at St Johns Hospital in Springfield MO while attending college. He began his career as a Probation officer for the Missouri Department of Probabtion and Parole. He ended his career for the State of Missouri as a Criminal Investigator for the Department of Revenue in 2015. He was proud to have over 25 years of service to the State of Missouri. After his retirement Roy became a full time caregiver to his mother until the onset of his cancer diagnosis.

Roy loved music, especially the blues, was an avid St Louis Cardinal fan, loved to travel, buy cars and never met a stranger. He had many wonderful trips with his wife and friends, Disney World in 2011 and Hawaii in 2012. In 2013 he caught the “Cruising Bug”. He was able to go on 9 cruises since that time, his last cruise was in September 2017. When he received his diagnosis all he asked for was to be able to go on just one more cruise. He was able to go on 6! He was planning another cruise in 2018.

In 2006, Roy met his wife Tina Greninger in an internet chat room. They chatted for several weeks before finally meeting in Springfield MO. Once they met they knew they had found their forever partner. There wasn’t a day that went by that they didn’t make each other laugh. They married on August 11, 2006. They resided in Branson Mo until 2016 when they moved to Ozark MO.

Roy was preceded in death by his father, Robert. He is survived by his wife, Tina of the home, his mother, Lois Seckington, Springfield MO, children, James Seckington and wife Kristen O Fallon MO, Nikki Seckington, Hollister MO and Teri Seckington, Atlanta GA. Roy is also survived by step children Dana Little and husband Heath, Carthage Mo, Stacey Hamilton, Joplin MO, Storm Vaughn, Columbus KS and River Vaughn, Archie, MO, Grandchildren Xander Seckington, Andrew Little, Trey Vaught, Hailey Little, Mykial Vaughn, Emma Vaughn, Benjamin Hamilton and Stormy Snyder.

Roy is also survived by a multitude of friends too numerous to mention. Friends who would call or text daily to check on him, drive him to doctor appointments, rub his feet, take him out for an evening of the “Blues”, or go on “special missions”. Former co workers who would arrange lunch dates to reminisce about the old times. Neighbors who would mow the lawn when he was unable, keep an eye on the house when he was away, and lend an ear when he needed to talk. Extended family members who would drive him to the cruise terminal, go camping and listen to his stories.

After his diagnosis was of his main priorities was to assure that his wife would not have any worries about their home or their cars. He made special requests from business owners, neighbors and friends to make sure that her needs would be met when he was unable to be there for her.

A memorial service will be held on Monday November 27, 2017 at Greenlawn Funeral Home East at 11 am. Following the service Roy will be taken to the family home where he will reside until Tina goes to be with him again and they will be interned together. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Blues Society of the Ozarks, PO Box 8133 Springfield MO 65801. Donators are asked to specify that donations be directed to the Blues Festival, which Roy enjoyed.
