Remembrances of Maxine Williamson:
• She was an avid reader of fiction and history, and had well-informed opinions about current events and trends.
• She loved babies and children, her own and everyone else’s.
• Her husband Marvin treated her like a queen, which she totally deserved.
• Christmas was a major holiday calling for a perfectly decorated tree, meals with all the trimmings and an endless supply of treats.
• She was an expert at cross-stitch embroidery and made many beautiful quilts.
• She had a sweet tooth and never gained weight: cherry pie, Oreos and angel food cake were among her favorites.
• With movie star looks, she always had her hair perfectly in place and a stylish manicure.
• She was a fashionable woman with an extensive wardrobe of fine and tasteful clothes, but also totally at home in jeans, a garden hat and gloves.
• It was necessary to have a full spread at every meal, regardless of the time between meals.
• Every child, grandchild and great-grandchild received a card on their birthdays.
• She had a weakness for long-haired dachshunds.
• She was elegant and gracious with impeccable manners.
• She never hesitated to sit on the floor to play with children.
• She thought the most beautiful place in the world was the deck and gardens Marvin and she built in their backyard.
• She embraced neighbors who often were taken in as family.
• She had a saying as life took its toll on her, “Old age is not for wimps.”
Maxine’s kind and gentle spirit lives on in the memories of friends and family.
