Nathan Jerome Goad, age 76 of Springfield, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, November 25th in his home surrounded by his family. He was born October 29, 1933 in Bentonville, Arkansas to Nathan A. and Alice (Potts) Goad. He served in the Navy during the Korean War and later was employed at Eagle Pitcher, Joplin, Missouri, BF Goodrich, Miami, Oklahoma, and Pitsco, Inc., Pittsburg, Kansas. Nathan enjoyed fishing, boating and gardening as well as spending time with his family, friends and neighbors. He attended Southgate Baptist Church.
Survivors include six children and their spouses; Rochelle and Lee Doss, Joplin, MO, Troy and Tawnia Goad, Neosho, MO, Travis and Carol Goad, Diamond, MO, Nikki and William Phillips, Joplin, MO, Rana and Chip Travis, Pittsburg, KS, Vanece and Chuck Williams, Springfield, MO; 19 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers and one sister; Jack and Linda Goad, Galena, KS, Don Roy and Betty Goad, Joplin, MO, and Lenora Jean Standley, Webb City, MO. He was preceded in death by his wife Bernice, his parents, and sister Norma.
The family would like to express appreciation to Dr. Norman Knowlton, Dr. Joe Carmichael, the nurses and staff at Cox 7 East, Oxford Hospice, and all of Nathan’s wonderful neighbors for their friendship and compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers the family request contributions be made to Oxford Hospice Foundation, 3660 South National, Springfield, MO.
Services will be at Greenlawn East, Thursday, December 3rd at 11:00 A.M. Visitation will be at 10:30 A.M. Thursday.
