Charles Eugene Hoffman, 91, Springfield, Mo., passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2009. He was born in Springfield on October 21, 1918. Gene graduated from Springfield Senior High and went on to attend Drury University one year. He spent two years in the U.S. Army Air Corp. Gene was co-owner of Eagle Sheet metal Works, Springfield. Hazel Fawcett Hoffman, the love of his life of 45 years, predeceased him. Also predeceasing Gene was his father, Randolph Hoffman and mother, Evelyn Hoffman; brother, Raymond Hoffman. Gene regularly attended First and Calvary Presbyterian Church and also was a member of the Shriner’s organization. Survivors include stepdaughter, Shirley Fawcett, step-grandson, Mark Fawcett, step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; niece, Beverly Beckmeyer; nephews, Mike Hoffman and Bob Hoffman; great niece, and two great nephews; cousin Martha Pruitt, Boulder Creek, Calif. Visitation will be Saturday, December 26, 2009 at 9 to 10 a.m. in Greenlawn South with graveside service to follow in Greenlawn North Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. The family suggests memorial donations be to First and Calvary Presbyterian Church, Springfield, Mo. A special thanks is given to the “shut-in” ministry of First and Calvary.
