Remembering a beloved Mother, Family Member and Friend
Mable Irene George, age 79, of Springfield, MO, passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2010. She was born April 27, 1930, in Springfield, Mo, to George M. and Myrtle Blevins. She is a member of Hillcrest Presbyterian Church.
Her parents, step-father, Roy Tilden; husband, Clair; precede her in death.
She is survived by her son, Mike George, daughter, Jacqueline Johnson; three grandchildren, Heather and husband Serge Canizares, Rick Johnson and wife Mariko, and Patrick Johnson; four great-granchildren; brothers and sisters: Wilma Eaton and husband Louis, Ella Mae Findlay, Irma Patterson, Bill Blevins and wife Jo, and Bob Blevins; brother-in-law, Bob George and wife Ruth Ann.
There has never been a more forgiving spirit than that which was present in Mable. A matriarch beyond measure, she brought people closer together by placing their shortcomings secondary to building and mainting lasting caring relationships.
Bright intelligence guided her with natural interest as she educated herself about her illness and actively participated in her care plan. Respect was always afforded everyone, even when she was looked upon unfavorably. There was an everlasting spirit that battled her most formidable adversary – illness – in a gallant courageous heroic manner.
Everyday of life was valued with pleasures that included a current events scrapbook, trying to stay in contact with friends and family, reading and musical enjoyment headlined by Daniel O’Donnell, whom she went to see the past three years in Branson.
For seventeen years she was a dedicated employee for Lily Tulip Cup Company where she worked with pride and accomplishment. The effort she brought forth in the work place and her personal life are standards we should all strive for.
Cooking was one of Mable’s many talents, with apple dumplings and ham biscuits to be remembered as a couple of her many classics. Many dinners and special event breads and treats were prepared for loved ones.
When Mable was 47 she learned to drive, adding to her many accomplishments.
During life and after traveling the highway to Heaven there is a memory to be treasured in the midst of sorrowful tears from missing her and joyful tears from having her in all of our lives that were enhanced by her presence.
She wanted the world to be better than the world sometimes wanted to be.
A special recognition to wonderful neighbors, Bonnie Rogers Troy and Lorretta, Cindy and Ed Hyatt and Bill and family. Also to Steve Bach – a friend as well as a business man, who was always there helping in every way possible; and to Janice in the dietary department of Cox South and to Ida and Mel Brooks, Debbie Holmes and their families who were also blessings in her life.
