Daniel W. McHan
Daniel W. McHan was born June 26, 1914, in Amy, Mo. to Bulen and Nancy Black McHan. He left this world February 28, 2010, surrounded by his family singing “Amazing Grace.” His parents, wife Ruby, and brother Russell preceded him in death. He graduated from West Plains in 1932 then taught in a one room school for three years. He was inducted into the Army 1941. Serving in Europe from 1944 to 1945 he managed a heavy machine shop for the 909 Ordinance. He earned his BS degree 1951 (SMS) and his Master’s degree 1952 (Peabody College.) He was a public school principal in Greenfield, Charleston, West Plains, and Thayer, Mo.He married Ruby Wicker, March 22, 1943 and Winifred Hudson Kelly, January 19, 2001. D.W. was baptized in Turnback Creek in 1953 and taught Sunday School classes in Baptist churches the remainder of his life. He is survived by his wife Winifred; children, Danny (Teddie Sue) McHan and Idella (Marvin) Warden; grandchildren, Dylan (Bunnie) and Branden Warden, Katie Geronsin-McHan; great-grandchildren, Conner and Ella Warden; nieces, Janet (Glen) Cochran and Judy (Richard) Kay; as well as step-children and grandchildren. All will dearly miss him. Visitation will be Wednesday March 3, 2010 from 6 to 8 p.m. with services Thursday 10 at a.m. in Greenlawn North, Springfield. Graveside services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Amy Cemetery near Caulfield, Mo. The family suggests memorial donations to the Building Fund, Pleasant Home Baptist Church, 3630 E. State Hwy. AA.
