Betty Lou Douglas, 79, of Strafford, passed away February 28, 2010. She was born April 13, 1930, and graduated from Marshfield High, class of 1948. She worked for Greene County Bank, Strafford Public Schools, was a professional seamstress, and did drafting for a survey company in California. Betty was united in marriage to Cecil Rhea Douglas in 1948. She attended Strafford Baptist Church and loved quilting, crocheting and stained glass. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Rhea Douglas; parents, Henry W. and Grace Bumgarner; brothers, Jim, Tom, Dan and Bob; sisters, Laura Mae (infant), Jean Haro and Pauline Branstetter. She is survived by children, Carolyn and husband Larry Thornton, and Brenda Douglas; grandsons, Bryan and Brent Thornton; sisters, Irene Fuller of Laguna Beach, Calif., and Faye Blazer of Marshfield, Mo.; and sister-in-laws, Mariena Webb, Freda and Margaret Bumgarner. Services will be held Thursday, March 4, at 1 p.m. in Greenlawn Funeral Home East. Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2010, in the funeral home
