Stanley Ray Bown, age 62, of Springfield, MO, passed away Monday, January 17, 2011, in his home. He was born January 23, 1948, in Salina, UT, to Joseph and Dorella (Jackson) Bown. He served a two year mission June 19, 1967 to June 28, 1969 in the California South Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He served in the U.S. United States Army during Gulf War. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Springfield Second Ward. He liked using his ham radio, and was a member of the amateur radio society, liked volunteering with law enforcement and was a member of the Utah Peace Officers association. He enjoyed photography, he had his own photography business called Stan’s Photography. He loves animals especially his dog Romeo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant brother Louis.
He is survived by his wife Griselda (Garcia) Bown of Mexico; two brothers: John Leslie Bown of Springfield, MO, and Jerry Bown of Kearns, UT; two step-daughters: Jessica Ruiz of Houston, TX, and Launa Cheever of Alton, MO, and one grandson Ramish Khan, Jr. of Houston, TX; as well as many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, January 24, 2011, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Springfield 2nd Ward, Springfield, MO, with Bishop Mark Tuttle officiating. Burial will follow in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield, MO, at 2:00 PM. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 AM before the service at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home South Springfield, MO.
