Maxine Eisenhour Pickel, 87, of Clever, Mo., passed away from this earthly home to her heavenly home on April 4, 2011. She was born September 26, 1923 in Christian County, the daughter of Everett and Lois Eisenhour. She was married to Loren H. Pickel, who passed away in 1986. Two daughters, were born to this marriage, Janice Kay and Linda Kay.
During her working career she managed and co-owned with her father the Silverleaf Cafe on “M” Highway. She also worked for Strauss Draperies, J.C. Penney’s and Lily-Tulip. She raised Pomeranian puppies and enjoyed the breed. Many people were blessed by receiving one of her puppies.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Thelma Davis Spivy; all of her uncles and aunts; and grandson, Daniel Jay Day in January 1984.
Her main enjoyment in life was her family. She lived to see and enjoy five generations.
Survivors include two daughters, Janice Day Hardin of Springfield, Linda Cox of Clever, Mo. (the last ten years she lived with Linda); three grandchildren, Jeff Day (wife Dee), Rhonda (husband Allen) Dye, Leslie Cox; two great-grandsons, Justin Day and Zach Levi Day; two great-great-granddaughters, Lillian Day and Haley Day; sisters, Betty Jo Waite of Springfield, and Marcella Blackburn (husband Doyle), of Nixa, Mo.; and a host of nephews and nieces. Her church home was Del-Prado Baptist with Pastor Leland Burch.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, April 9th in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Compasses.
