Opha Pansy (Wingo) Denney, the daughter of James and Myra Wingo, was born March 30, 1905 in Seymour, Missouri. Opha went to be with her Lord and Savior on November 11, 2011 at 106 years old. Opha was united in marriage to Harrison Denney on February 28, 1924 in Springfield, Missouri. They were blessed with two sons and one daughter.
She is survived by her daughter, Lois Recchia of Springfield and son, Doyle Denney and wife Shigeko of Killeen Texas; ten grandchildren, David Denney, Chris Denney, Regina Denney, Shelly Kerr, Dennis Price, Kathy Hill, Linda Goff, Janet Little, Monique Daniels, Jun Melvin; 24 great–grandchildren; 33 great-great-grandchildren; and four great-great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harrison; oldest son Bernard Denney; and great-grandson, Michael Green.
Opha worked 25 years at the Springfield Garment Factory. She loved to sew and made quilts for all of her family. She was a God-fearing woman and read her Bible every day until she was no longer able to read. Opha loved being around her family, loved to garden, loved to ride her exercise bike and was able to live in her own home until she was 101 years old.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday November 17, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. in Greenlawn Funeral Home North with Pastor Jim Cookson officiating. Burial will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 16, 2011 from 6-7 p.m. in the funeral home.
