John Michael Deering

Age 63
Beloved husband of Sharon (Velten) Deering for 39 years. Loving stepfather of Suzanne McGownd and Cheryl Carlson. Proud grandfather of Connor McGownd, Bailey Carlson and Garrett Carlson.
John is also survived by his mother, Martha (Laur) Schindler of Chesterfield, Mo.; his brother, Dennis C. Deering of Salem, Il.; and his son-in-law, Dean A. Carlson. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles B. Deering, Jr.; a brother, Douglas Deering; and a sister, Christy A. Deering; his grandparents, Charles B. Deering, Sr. and Gertrude Deering; and Hobart M. and Mary E. Laur.
John was a graduate of Christian Brothers College High School and St. Louis College of Pharmacy. He was employed as a pharmacist at St. John’s Hospital (Mercy) in Springfield, Mo. for 35 years. He was a charter member and treasurer of Novice Investment Club, a member of NAIC.
John was grateful for the generous and loving support to his family from his many friends and his pharmacy “family” at St. John’s Hospital.
Services for John will be at 2:30 P.M. Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Greenlawn Funeral Home East with burial following in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:30 P.M. in the funeral home.
