William Nicholson, 89, of Willard, left this life to meet our Lord, Savior and Creator on February 22, 2013. William was born to Annabelle and William Nicholson on June 8, 1923 in Blairsville, Pennsylvania. William served in the United States Army during World War II and the Korean War. He served in France during the Battle of the Bulge, where he received the Purple Heart for his service. After his retirement from the Army, Bill worked for the V.A. Hospital in Waco Texas, working as a Nurse Technician. He married Lauralea Nicholson on June 12, 1987 in Osage Beach, Missouri. William was a member of the local V.F.W. , the American Legion, and the local AM Vets. He and his wife planned his military company reunions for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, William G. and Annabelle Nicholson; one son; and one daughter. He is survived by his loving wife, Lauralea Nicholson; two children; and several grandchildren, and great grandchildren.Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m., Monday, March 4, 2013 at Springfield National Cemetery. Cremation services have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home North.
