Dorothy Eloise Martin, 87, of Springfield, was born July 17, 1925, and passed away on June 10, 2013. She was married to William Martin on June 1, 1942, and the couple just celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary. Dorothy is survived by her husband, William, four children, Pamela (Jim) Morgan, Kelly (Janice) Martin, Eloise Magill, and Nancy (Mickey) Ray all of Springfield, Missouri, 9 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, a sister, Gloria Mingus, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Dorothy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She was the heart of her family and a healer of broken wings who welcomed and accepted everyone in her home. She worked tirelessly to make sure everyone – especially the children – had a good time. She loved the Lord, Christmas, family birthday parties, and traveling, especially to Hawaii. She was a member of South Haven Baptist Church since 1957 where she sang in the choir, taught kids’ choir, and Bible school. A celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held at 10 am on Friday, June 14, at Greenlawn Funeral Home South with burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Springfield at 11:30 am. The family will receive visitors on Thursday evening, June 13, between 6 and 8 pm at the funeral home.
