Charlene Lovetta Hubbard, age 83, devoted wife, mother, and grandmother of Springfield, MO, peacefully went to meet her Lord and Savior at 4:27 a.m., Friday, February 7, 2014 at Webco Manor, with her loving family by her side. She was born October 15, 1930, in Greeley, CO, to Eanor Manual and Gertrude (Miller) Shumate. She was united in marriage to Charles Hubbard on October 27, 1950 in Mountain Home Arkansas. Charlene was a dedicated homemaker, being the great grandmother that she was, she kept her grandchildren until they were old enough to attend school, and kept them during the summers.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eanor Manual and Gertrude Shumate and one brother Richard Shumate of Lebanon. She is survived by her loving husband, Charles Hubbard of the home; three children, Michael Ray Hubbard of Battlefield, Mark Allen Hubbard and wife Marty of Springfield, and Michele Appleton and husband David of Fair Grove, MO; six grandchildren,Kylie, Courtney, Cameron, Kinsey, Coby, and Dylan; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Max Shumate and Derald Shumate of both Springfield; Three sisters, Aneta Whitehurst of Marshfield, Doris Pryor of Nixa, and Donna Shumate of Springfield; and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 15, 2014, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, MO with Rev. Boone Middleton and Rev. Derald Shumate officiating. Burial will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Springfield, MO. Visitation will be held from 6:30 – 8 p.m. on Thursday, February 13, 2014 in the funeral home . Friends and family are invited to a celebration of Charlene’s life at the Holiday Inn on North Glenstone, following the graveside services. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mid America Organ Tansplant. Services have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home North, Springfield, MO.
