Charles B. “Chuck” Knight passed away January 18, 2015 at Cox Medical Center South. Charles was born November 11, 1934 to Tillman and Addie Edwards Knight, Cerre Gordo, NC. In 1954 he met and married the love of his life Mary Sue Ollie. They celebrated 60 years together last November and are survived by 3 children; Susan and Dennis Cochran, Mary Jean and Tim Ewing, Charles II and Vicky Knight. Grandchildren, Tabatha Metz, Sarah and Billy Ballard, Jason Ewing, Michael Knight, Darren Knight, Thomas Ewing, Daniel Cochran, and Samuel Knight. Special grandchildren, Sara Downing, Justin Head, Dylan Head, Sonja Nunley and 5 Great-Grand Children. He is also survived by a brother Tillman and Viola Knight, and two sisters Leona and Butch Kerns and Dorothy Dills all of North Carolina, sister-in-law Betty Hampton, and many nieces, nephews, and good friends. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Ruth and brother-in-law Joe Lunsford, brother-in-laws Raymond Hampton and Walter Dills, daughter-in-law Rhonda Knight and grandson Scotty Washam. Chuck was a pressman for Springfield News and with Mary owned and operated Knights Cleaning Service. He enjoyed retirement-traveling to visit family, breakfast and dinner with friends, and his John Deere tractor. Charles had a big heart and bright smile and he loved his wife and his family always. He passed from us peacefully and will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Services will be at 10:00 am Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Greenlawn Funeral Home East with burial in White Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday in the funeral home.
