Mary Alvera Brown
Mary Alvera Brown, 90, formerly of Conway, MO, passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at Warrensburg Manor Care.
Alvera was born May 22, 1924, in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Clarence and Dessie Stine. She was united in marriage to Carl W. Brown on December 21, 1940 in Liberty, MO. Carl preceded her in death in April 2004. She was also preceded in death by a son, Carl Lloyd Brown, in 1991.
Alvera was a beautician and owned her own beauty shop in Peculiar, MO for many years. She enjoyed fixing hair and making others look their best, but she especially loved working with people. Alvera was also very active in the churches she attended. She loved nothing more than to have family and friends in her home. She had a way of making everyone around her feel comfortable and welcome. Family was extremely important to Alvera, and she was happiest when all of her many children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were with her.
Alvera’s survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Linda Brown, Butler, MO; a daughter and son-in-law, Carla and Greg Ballowe, Centerview, MO; 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, January 24, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. in Greenlawn Funeral Home East. Visitation will be one hour before services from 2 to 3 p.m. Burial will be at a later date in Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
