Tom Wickizer, 89, was born May 27, 1925 to Melvin M. and Opal E. Wickizer, in Springfield, Missouri. He went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 21, 2015.
Committed to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ his entire life, he was always active in church. Tom was saved and baptized at age 10. He married Freida Gfeller on August 31, 1946 soon after returning from the Navy. Tom’s insurance career began at age 26 selling life insurance. Tom worked for the Western Adjustment and Inspection Company and its successor General Adjustment Bureau for 22 years. In 1976 Tom and his partner Jack Clutter started Wickizer and Clutter INC. an insurance adjusting firm that became the premier adjustment firm in Southwest Missouri. Tom retired in 1990 at the age of 65.
Tom is survived by his wife, Freida; daughter, Shirley Wickizer Harman; son, Mark Thomas Wickizer and wife, Teresa; granddaughter, Melissa Sue McClelland and husband, Matt; great grandchildren, Kayleigh Faith McClelland, Aaliyah Hope McClelland, and Riley Matthew McClelland; and one grandson, Matthew Thomas Wickizer and wife, Laura.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, January 24, 2015 in Greenlawn Funeral Home North, 3506 North National, Springfield, MO, with interment in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive from 1-2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions to The Gideons International or Springfield Victory Mission.
