Velva M. Rose, born July 21, 1918, went to be with the Lord on January 24, 2015 at the age of 96. Velva has been a native of the Springfield area all her life. She was a cosmetologist, owning her own shop for many years. She had been an instructor at the Blue Bonnet Beauty Academy before starting her own business at the Boston Beauty Shop. She was involved in many organizations and enjoyed bowling and traveling. Velva was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene Maybee and Minnie (Roberts) Maybee and six brothers and sisters. She is survived by her son, Roger Redfearn, two granddaughters, Teresa Stevens, her husband Doug and Lisa Smith, two great-granddaughters, Sommer Henderson and Nicole Smith, her brother, Leo Maybee, his wife Marion, her sister Barbara Harley and several nieces and nephews. Velva was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. She was loved and will be missed dearly.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 27, 2015, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in Greenlawn Funeral Home South, with the Funeral service starting at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow the service in Spokane Cemetery, Spokane, MO.
