On May 1, 2015, Ruthie Dean Hurd Smith peacefully passed away in her home in Springfield, MO at the age of 79. Ruth was born in Niles, MI the daughter of “Jack” and Virgie (Honicutt) Hurd. She was united in marriage to her loving husband, Charles Dee Smith, on October 18, 1951.
Ruth was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her family very much. She loved to talk about her family history.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Bonnie Guy “Bud” Hurd, her sister Joanie Hurd and her grandson George Henderson.
She is survived by her husband Charles Smith, her daughter Stella Wagner and husband Mark, her son Greg Smith and wife Cindy, and her son Bobby Smith and wife Candy. Ruth is also survived by her grandchildren whom she loved so much; granddaughter Lori Henderson, grandson Zach Smith and wife Leslie, granddaughter Amber Chapman and husband Greg, granddaughter Caitlyn Wallberg and husband Adam and granddaughter Meagan Smith. Ruth is also survived by 10 great grandchildren, Audrey Henderson, Jonah Henderson, Lucas Henderson, Lalieh Quigley, C J Quigley, Olivia Chapman, Noah Chapman, Zane Chapman, Adley Chapman and MacKenna Wallberg. She is also survived by her sister Barbara Hurd, brother Jack Hurd and wife Pat and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation is Monday, May 4, 2015 6 – 8 pm. Graveside services Tuesday, May 5, 2015 10 am Rose Hill Cemetery, Willard MO
