Marilyn Jeanette Shepherd age 76 died peacefully at the home of her daughter Gale and son-in-law Mike Ayers Thursday October 27, 2015. She was surrounded by her loving husband Al, Gale and Mike as she stoically succumbed to cancer.
Born 1/30/1939 in Murphy North Carolina, she spent most of her life in Springfield Missouri.
She worked as an accountant and co-owner of Distinctive Signs with her husband, retiring in 2002.
A proud conservative who most importantly loved family, genealogy, and cats, she recently submitted her DNA to the National Geographic Genographic Project.
Survivors include husband Al, daughter Gale and husband Mike of Springfield MO, granddaughter Julia Highfill and husband Grant of Republic MO, grandson Joel Seiferd of Springfield MO, and 2 great grandchildren Perrin and Burke Highfill.
She was preceded in death by her mother Ruth Brown, father Harvey Brown, and brother Lee Brown.
A brief service will be held in the chapel at the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery Tuesday, November 3rd, 2015 at 2pm with inurnment following.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home South, Springfield, Missouri.
