John “Scott” Sneed died unexpectedly on January 28 in Springfield, Missouri at the age of 70.
Scott is survived by his wife, Carolyn ; step-daughter, Renee Gamel ; granddaughter, Cassilyn Enyart; sisters Beverly Gray (Dana); Brenda Sneed; Linda Zongker (Wes); sister-in-law, Paula Sneed; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Sarah Sneed; his brother, Murray Sneed Jr.; and two aunts, Ferrial and Ressie Wommack, all of Springfield.
Scott was born on June 20, 1948 to Murray Sr. and Dessie Sneed. He grew up on a family beef cattle farm near Fellows Lake; a farm he continued to work until his death. After graduating high school, Scott served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. Scott retired as a Master Mechanic from French’s in 2010 after 37 years of dedicated service to a job he loved. It was at French’s that he met Carolyn, his wife of 28 years. Together, they enjoyed traveling and attending concerts. Scott loved training his Treeing Walker Coonhounds and teaching others the art of hunting. Scott could fix anything and he was readily available to lend a helping hand to family, friends and neighbors. He always carried tools with him in case a need arose.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 2926 E. Battlefield Rd., Springfield, MO 65804.
