Funeral services for Cleta Avelee (Rantz) Dickens age 82 of Branson, Missouri will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, August 6, 2020 at Greenlawn Funeral Home in Branson with Pastor Jim Cantrell officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Eisenhour Cemetery in Reeds Spring, Missouri.

She passed away on July 31, 2020 at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

Cleta was born on March 11, 1938 in Reeds Spring, Missouri the daughter of Scelbert and Ellen Jones Rantz. She graduated as valedictorian with the class of 1956 at Reeds Spring High School. She and her husband were the owners/operators of Dickens Gift Shoppe in Branson from 1967 until 2012. She was a member of the Keystone Baptist Church in Reeds Spring, Missouri.

Survivors are her husband, LeeRoy Dickens of Branson. Two children; Dianne Call (Russell) of Ozark, Missouri and Lisa Land (Jace) of Redmond, Washington. Three brothers; Gerald Rantz of Nixa, Missouri, Larry Rantz of Springfield, Missouri and Ted Rantz of Kimberling City, Missouri. One sister, Esther Watts of Ozark, Missouri, two grandchildren, Timothy Haynes and Rebecca Davis, four great grandchildren, Mikayla, Marcy, Brooklynn and James. Cleta was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Darrel Rantz.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers are suggested to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee in her memory.

In memory of Cleta Avelee DIckens, Dianne Call lit a candle

My thoughts and prayers are with her loved ones who will move forward, cherishing her memory.

In the early 1960's, Cleta, along with her husband LeeRoy and daughter Diane, was my neighbor. At that time, I was a little girl, but still have fond memories of Cleta. At that time, I always thought that Cleta was high class. She worked outside the home at a bank, was kind and very pretty. My family didn't have central air back then, but I remember that the Dickens' did. That was my first experience of central air in the hot summer months and I LIKED IT! :) When the Dickens moved to Branson to begin their new chapter, my family visited them. Branson was beautiful, and in the country.(boy, that has changed). Their little (at that time) gift shop was amazing to me. Through the years, we would occasionally see the Dickens, either in Branson, or by their visits to Kansas City. I have very warm and fuzzy memories of Cleta, and the Dickens. Rest in peace, Cleta. Until we meet again.:)
