Hilda Shirlene Carney, age 85, of Springfield, MO passed away Thursday, August 6th, 2020 at Maplewood Alzheimer’s Special Care Center in Springfield. She was born March 31, 1935 near Guilford, MO to Amos and Goldie (Chapman) Wolf.

Hilda was preceded in death by her parents, four siblings, her husband John, and son Johnny. She is survived by daughter Nancy Skinner, her husband Gene, son Mike Carney, three granddaughters Jennifer Almy, Melissa and Rebecca Skinner, two great grandchildren; and sister Marva Stuart.

Devoted fan of any sport, she played softball into her 50s and followed the Lady Bears around the country with her husband. She was an active member of Boulevard Baptist Church, including a stint as church secretary. She enjoyed sewing and playing Rummy with her friends and kept her house spotless. Hilda also loved working outside.

Visitation will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 15, 2020 at Boulevard Baptist Church, Springfield, MO. The funeral is at 3:00 p.m. Mask will be required inside the church and seating will be separated to ensure social distancing. A private burial will be at Missouri Veterans Cemetery, August 17, 2020.
