Buddy Wayne Denney of Springfield, Missouri passed away on September 14. He was the devoted son of William (Oran) and Edith Denney (Haden), both deceased. He is survived by his brother, Eddie Denney and wife Fran of Memphis, Tennessee. His brother, Charlie Denney, preceded him in death. He is survived by his sister-in-law, Peggy Mahan, and former spouse, Claudine Vorhees. He had two nieces, Winfrey Denney (Harrison) and Sherry Denney (Hopkins), a nephew, Marty Denney, and a great nephew and niece, Chaz and Kelsi Denney. He also had many family cousins that were like brothers and sisters. He was also very close to the Siler family. Bud loved life and brought his good humor to every situation. He mostly enjoyed spending time with friends on the golf course, tennis court, or bowling alley (Sunshine Lanes).
He served in the army and was stationed in Stuttgart, Germany. He loved to talk about his time there and all the people that he met. Upon returning to the States, he had many different jobs. He eventually became an employee of Twin Oaks Golf Course and retired from there. Golf was central to his life and he was quite accomplished in the sport, winning many tournaments. He was also an inventor and was always thinking of things to create. He loved television and movies, and was quite versed in what was happening in the field of entertainment. He absolutely loved cars and his dream was to win the lottery and buy several new corvettes. He also loved music, especially accomplished guitar players, and also wrote country music songs.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. He is interred at Springfield National Cemetery in honor of his military service. Condolences can be sent to his niece, Sherry Denney at: drsherrydenney@gmail.com.
