Joyce Ellen Cook, age 70, of Springfield passed away Tuesday, January 12th, 2021 at Cox South.
Joyce was born January 28, 1950 in Kansas City, MO to Marvin and Roberta Sims. She was united in marriage to Steve Cook on February 1, 1975 in Springfield, MO. She was a loving wife, mother, and nana. Her family was the most important part of her life. Joyce loved to travel, camp, attend gospel music concerts and spend time with her family and friends. For many years she was active in church as a Sunday School teacher. Joyce and Steve are active members of Crossway Baptist Church.
Survivors include her loving husband, Steve Cook; three daughters, Cheryl Plevka and husband Jeremy, Sarah Searson and husband Tom, and Kimberly Witt and husband Kevin; nine grandchildren, Katelyn Plevka, Cameron Plevka, Colton Witt, Jacob Searson, Lincoln Witt, Gracelyn Witt, Jackson Searson, Owen Plevka, and Bethany Plevka; two brothers, Wayne Sims and wife Linda and Mike Sims and wife Wendy; and a host of family and friends.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Roberta Sims; and two sisters, Margaret Blakey and Robin Shields.
A celebration of Joyce’s life will be held at 10 am, Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Crossway Baptist Church. A private family burial to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Springfield, MO. Masks are required for the services, and the family asks that social distancing guidelines be followed.
