Doug went to be with our Lord on February 1, 2021 at Cox South Hospital in Springfield, MO. surrounded by friends and family. He was born in Harrison, Arkansas on May 3, 1961. Still can't believe this is real. Doug and I had been friends since we were in Jr HIgh. So many ski trips, float trips, going to the lake and playing golf. I feel like I have lost a brother. Doug could always light up a room and make everyone laugh. He just had the greatest personality. I dont know if I can ever go skiing again after 40 years of taking ski trips together. Miss you so much Doug.

I was sad to hear of Doug’s death. He and I were very good friends through high school in Harrison Arkansas. I regret that I did not keep up with him as a friend after graduation but life is like that. We went our separate ways, he to college in Fayetteville and myself to the Navy. I eventually settled in Alabama and last saw Doug at our 20th reunion in 1999. We reminisced of the days we spent growing up in small town NW Arkansas and it was a great time together. During a heavy snow our senior year with roads iced over we drove through my neighborhood sliding my 1972 Torino and doing “doughnuts”. While attempting a 180 that turned into a 270 we ended up in my front yard with the rear stuck in a deep snow bank. While I performed the forward/reverse maneuver Doug was standing up in the trunk rocking for ballast. We eventually freed the car and laughed about how much trouble we would have been in if my mother had come home. Another time while in his 71 Camaro we narrowly escaped being t-boned by an 18 wheeler when he decided to do an impromptu U turn on the highway. But through it all we were friends. At the reunion I remember us saying we should stay in touch and we’d get together next time I was in town. Life got in the way and neither of us followed through. For that I am sorry brother. Rest in peace. You were a true friend.

I was so blessed to know Doug from years of working together at Thousand Hills... Doug is forever in my heart as a true friend. With lunch time from Mulligans or Panera, his bite of chocolate every afternoon, Doug's infectious laugh bringing joy to the room, setting up the office TV so I could watch my favorite Big 10 team, chocolate milkshakes for the office on hot Summer days, and so much more...the fond memories seem endless. YOU ARE MISSED DOUG!
