Richard Hall (Dick) Perkins, 90, of Marshfield, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2021.
Dick was born to Delbert and Mona Perkins in Carthage on February 5, 1931. He graduated from Carthage High School and earned an Associates Degree in Chemical Engineering from International Correspondence School. On June 11, 1950, Dick married Janice Sue Williams and for nearly 69 years they enjoyed a marriage grounded in faith and family.
Together they raised their three children in homes built on their love of each other and of Christ wherever they were, including Carthage, Missouri, Baltimore, Maryland, and Memphis, Tennessee, before ultimately settling in the Springfield area. Dick spent his entire career with W. R. Grace & Co. in their Agricultural Chemicals Division, beginning at their plant near Joplin before being promoted to their headquarters, which was then in Baltimore but later moved to Memphis. He and Janice were always very active in the churches they attended and he served as Chairman of the Deacons and as a Sunday School teacher in multiple churches. But they were always most proud of their children and grandchildren.
Dick and Janice enjoyed traveling, growing bromeliads and other flowers, and Memphis Tiger and Missouri State basketball.
Dick was preceded in death by his wife Janice and by his parents and two sisters. He is survived by daughter Cynthia Dunn and husband George of Marshfield; son Richard Perkins and wife Pamela of Woodway, Texas; and son David Perkins and wife Melissa of Poplar Bluff. Additionally, he is survived by six grandchildren: William Dunn, Britni Mitchell, Loren Nichols, Kevin Dunn, Alex Dalton, and Kaitlyn Morlan, along with 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be on Tuesday, March 16th at 10:00 am at Greenlawn Funeral Home East in Springfield.
