Rachel Marie Smith 24, Bolivar, MO. passed away Monday, April 26, 2021 at Barnes Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO. Rachel was born on May 16, 1996, in Springfield, MO. to Chris Lee Smith and Wendy Michelle (Tooley) Smith. She was a former Pharmacy technician and CNA before her illness. She attended Timber Ridge Baptist Church. Rachel loved her life and others, often giving advice to all who needed her help. She was very strong in her beliefs, standing up for those who she believed in. She had an awesome personality, known for being witty and quirky. She loved journaling and social media. She loved animals and recently started cross stitching with her mother. She was a woman of many talents; She loved all music, she played the Violin, Clarinet, Saxophone and Piano. She drew Anime characters. She was a 2014 graduate of Bolivar High School where she was active in the Liberator Marching and Concert Bands, Color Guard and Winter Guard, Foreign Language Club, Art club, FBLA, National Honors Society, and Skills U.S.A. She earned the 2014 National Merit Scholarship and the Bolivar Rotary Club Academic Award. She earned the Drury University Trustee Scholarship, and in her college career, she was a member of The National Academic Honors Society and the Alpha Lumba Delta Society, and was on The Deans List her freshman year.
Rachel was preceded in death by her sister Christina Smith, her Aunt, Laura Mitts, and her best friend, Dara Hensley. She is survived by her father: Chris Smith, her mother: Wendy Smith, and step father Allen Green, her brother, Sawyer Smith, two sisters: Erica and Jassimine Smith, her grandparents: Bill and Christine Tooley, and Robert and Paula Smith and her two grandmothers: Marty Morrison and Victoria Green. She is also survived by several Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Friends.
Funeral Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 1, 2021, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Burial will follow, at New Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
