Jerry was my aunt. My dad and his brother, Uncle Barney, adored Jerry and she was one of the only people in their lives who brought them both a sense of ease and comfort in a world filled with challenges for the Logan family. Although I did not know Aunt Jerry and Uncle Barney as well as I wish I had, my dad does know everything about this wonderful woman. Her three sons, Steve, Ronnie and Wayne, were my first cousins. We all spent three holidays each year together: the 4th of July at Uncle Bobby's and Aunt Susie's house (the third of the three married brothers), Thanksgiving Eve at Grandma Hilda and Aunt Margie's home in Richardson (their adored sister), and Christmas Eve at Grandaddy Walter Logan and his second wife, Lena's on Coppedge just at the end of the street. Wayne was my age and the one I hung out with the most. We had great family festivities. My mom loved these evenings with Jerry because she brought homemade tins filled with delightful home-cooked goodies. She really wasn't that social, but she could not wait to see all of The Logans because family was her first and only priority aside from God. When her sons were all three lucky enough to have incredible weddings, Jerry found the courage to become more social than she really cared to be, and she rose to the occasion and enjoyed the evenings with elegance and down home love and tenderness. She loved Aunt Susie and my mom the most at these events.

Jerry's parenting skills were great...She was a dear mother to her three sons and was an attentive grandparent ... Jerry was a family first kind of lady and was full of love for Walter, her husband, and boys, wives and family. God bless her and her beloved family.. R I P.
