Barbara Ann Melton, 66, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on June 29, 2021, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield. She was born on March 23, 1955, in Sacramento, California. Barbara above all else loved to help others. She devoted her life to taking care of the elderly and disabled. Barbara married Jerry Melton on July 4, 2006, in Brighton, Missouri.
Barbara had a servant’s heart and spent many hours volunteering at her church, Embassy of Hope, Wilson’s Creek Nursing Home, and as a caregiver at the adult foster home program. She also loved to travel and crochet.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Pearl Dillon; sisters: Edith Swinford and Rose Pyatt; and husband, David Young. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Melton; her children: Christina McHaffie (Mike), Cindy Martin, Adam Mitchum (Stephanie), Stephanie Anderson ,and Andrew Martin (Antonina); 14 grandchildren: Chris, Nick, Shane, Patience, Tyler, Kylie, Whitney, Chase, Aspen, Katheryn, Austin, Kira, Lora, and Ontrell; several foster grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, Embree, Raidyn, and Raiylee; brothers: Joe Hall and Leo Neal; sisters: Margie Neal and Clara Fillpot; and several nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Barbara will be held on Saturday July 10, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. with a funeral service following at 10:00 a.m. at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Burial will follow at Maple Park Cemetery. A reception and celebration of life will take place after the graveside services at the Embassy of Hope Church at 1316 W Webster St. in Springfield.
