Tony David Mooneyham Jr. was born November 17, 1970, in Springfield, MO to Tony D. Mooneyham Sr. and Debbie E. Hinkle-Mooneyham. He graduated from Parkview High School. His younger years were filled with swimming, roller skating, Boys Scouts, Little League baseball, then on to karate, wrestling, hunting and fishing, and falling in love with Tara Pearson. They married later and their marriage was blessed with two children, a daughter Tia Michelle and son Ty David. These were the happiest days of his life. He finally had the family he’d wanted all his life. He was bursting with joy talking about coming home from work black with welding dust and tired and they didn’t care. They just wanted to play and climb all over him. He laughed and said, “They think I’m a jungle gym.” Having fun with his family and friends was his life. He loved entertaining and making people laugh, movies, music, and dancing.
He was a man of many talents and interests. He cooked at RJ’s a family-owned restaurant while in high school and continued at others, was into construction and many years of welding for limo companies.
He had an enormous capacity to love and to need to be loved, it was too great for his own good. His trying to mask his shattered heart when their marriage ended started a life into a downhill spiral that he was never able to completely stop. He later married Tiffany Hann and that marriage ended also. At the time of his death he was with his significant other Jackie Luttrel.
He is survived by his son Ty D. Mooneyham, a daughter Tia Steeves and husband David, grandson Weston, grandpa L.D. Mooneyham, mother Debbie Hinkle, and grandma Colleen McCroskey, numerous aunt, uncles, cousins, friends, and Jackie Luttrel. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter Isabella Steeves, and father Tony D. Mooneyham Sr, grandma Betty Mooneyham and uncle Jack Mooneyham, grandpa Mark Hinkle and uncles Tim, Chip, and David Hinkle, step-grandpa Robert McCroskey and step-dad Al (Ben) Benson.
A visitation at Greenlawn North will be held Sunday December 12 from 2:00-4:00 pm, followed by a cremation. Then in loving memory of Tony a celebration of Tony’s first Christmas with Jesus and his granddaughter Bella will be held at Homeland Baptist Church at N. Golden, December 18, 1:00 pm, and will be officiated by Brother Gene Marcum.
