Chris Darnell was taken too soon during a performance at the Battle Creek, Michigan airshow. He was born and raised in Springfield, Mo on June 2, 1982. He has left behind his bride Brooke of 16 years and his two daughters Reese Christine (14) and Taylor Brooke (12). Chris lived life to the fullest and his infectious smile lit up every room. He went to his first Motorsports event at two weeks old. He grew up in a Motorsports family, but was an avid hunter and fisherman. Chris had a deep love of animals and passed that love on to his daughters, who now have a mini farm. He performed and entertained millions at airshows and races in Shockwave each year. Chris’ love for performing could not match his love for Brooke, Reese and Taylor. On his weekends off, you could find Chris and his girls at the lake, sand dunes, camping or around the fire pit ready to give you a cold beer. He had a passion for cooking and entertaining guests. If you were with Chris, you were guaranteed to be well taken care of.
He is survived by his wife and children, Brooke, Reese and Taylor. His parents, Neal and Marilyn Darnell, Mother and Father in law, Paula and John Adams, Bob and Marylou Grana. His siblings and spouses, Julie and Rusty Crow, John and RueDonna Darnell, Andrea and Kevin Hall, brother and sister in law, Tony and Liz Grana, Kyle and Dakota Grana, and Tara and Nikki Adams. He was very fond of his nieces and nephews: Kyndl, Braeden, Carter, Peyton, Ryder, Caden, Lani, Lexi, Hannah, Tate, Julie and Ari. His love for his extended family and friends was obvious and leaves behind many aunts, uncles and cousins. His Crew Chief and friend, Wayne Rachel has been with him for 10 years. Last but not least, his beloved dogs, Crew and travel companion Chief.
A celebration of life will be held on July 13th at the DMP Hangar at SGF Airport (2503 North General Aviation Ave Springfield, Missouri). Visitation will be from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. The flyover and service will start at 3:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations for the Reese and Taylor college fund can be received at the service. Greenlawn Funeral Home East is handling the arrangements.
