Charles (Chuck) (Rocky) Guy Barnes passed away peacefully at home on August 28, 2022 surrounded by his family. He suffered a stroke four years ago and had been battling life as he knew it since that time.
Chuck was born January 20, 1941 in Jefferson City, Missouri. The son of Guy and Evelyn Barnes. He is survived by his wife Shirley Barnes, daughter Stephanie Barnes of Colorado, grandson Aidan Levy of Colorado and brother Martin Barnes of Hawaii.
Chuck grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and once married moved to the Branson area where he spent most of his life. His favorite hobbies were fishing, golfing, horse racing, antiquing and casinos.
One of the most important things in Chuck’s life was his faith. He was profoundly committed to the Catholic Church and was a member of The Followers of Saint Francis Fraternity and loved every minute of it. He was very instrumental in helping those in need and brought many into the church. His family rejoices in the knowledge that his faith informed his life so deeply.
If you ever met Chuck, you have heard one of his many, many stories. He was a great storyteller. Often times you might hear the story more than once, with a little different twist.
Chuck lived life by his own rules and believed in asking forgiveness later. As in life, he continues that philosophy in death. His wishes were that no funeral services be held after he passed. His family is honoring that wish and asks that everyone celebrate him in their own special way. Please consider making a donation in his name, to one of his favorite charities; Muscular Dystrophy Assoc., Humane Society (as he was a lover of animals), or your own favorite charity. Chuck’s wishes were to be cremated and laid to rest at a later time.
