Mary Ann Owens was called home at the age of 79, on Dec. 26, 2022. It was a peaceful passing in her own home, just the way she wanted it.
Mary Ann was born Dec. 21, 1943, in West Plains, MO., but lived most of her life in Springfield Missouri, until her daughter insisted on moving her to Kansas City.
During her time in Springfield, she married the love of her life, Charles Owens. They were married for 25 years until his passing in 2007. Together they spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ through word and song to many.
Mary Ann Owens was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Jane Triplett and Jimmie Kennard, her sister Jimmie Lee King and brother Rollo Candie.
She is survived by her daughter Karen Candie (Robin), son Fred Candie (Tina) – Stepdaughter and granddaughter Tianna James and Zurianna Covington, her grandchildren Courtnie Candie (Andre Sr.) and Jonas Candie (Heather). Her great grandchildren Scarlett Candie, Isaiah Candie and Andre Adams Jr. Sibling; Joseph Candie (Carol), Nancy Barge, Mandy Candie, Rosemary Jackson, Sharon Williams, and Debbie Shockley. Plus, a multitude of nieces, nephews, and lots of friends.
Mary Ann loved to sing with her sisters, her church and anyone else that wanted to join in. She praised God even through her pain and heartache. She cared about everyone she met and served as many as she could. Her heart was full of gratitude, thankfulness, and love.
Decorating was her thing, no matter the season or event she was ready with enough decorations for several rooms. She was a masterful cook and presentation in color was important. She loved to dress colorfully with lots of lace. If you knew her, you knew her style.
Flowers are welcome, but in lieu of flowers we welcome you to donate, in her name, to Harbor Hospice. They were the agency that cared for her and family for the last 9 months of her life. They provided excellent care. https://harborfoundation.com/donate.html
