Mary Dean “Deanie” Bloomer, age 96 , of Springfield passed away Wednesday, January 25th, 2023.
Deanie was born February 9, 1926 in Mountain Home, Arkansas to Irl and Pearl Young. Deanie was united in marriage to Francis E. “Frank” Bloomer on September 5, 1942, in Marshfield, Missouri. She worked as an administrative secretary for the Lubbock Independent School System for over 20 years. Frank and Deanie were members of Wesley United Methodist Church. She and her husband had a lifelong love of the Salvation Army. As teenagers they played in the band, which was a major influence in their lives. Deanie volunteered at Cox Walnut Lawn for over 10 years.
Survivors include her three loving children, Paula and Eddie Odle, Jeff Bloomer, and Scott Bloomer; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
A celebration of Deanie’s life will be at 11:30 am, Friday, February 3, 2023, at Greenlawn Funeral Home South, with interment to follow in Missouri Veterans Cemetery. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Greenlawn Funeral Home South.
