Barbara Wells, 78, of Springfield, Missouri, passed away on January 30, 2023, at her home. Barbara was born on February 12, 1944, in Springfield, to Alva and Mary Evans. She was the youngest of four siblings. Barb attended Hillcrest High School and even returned to work in the cafeteria. The “Lunch Lady” retired after 15 years of taking care of the kids. She enjoyed playing bingo with her daughter-in-law, and you could always hear her laughing. You could also find her cruising the streets looking for garage sales.
Barb married Billy Joe Wells in 1962, and he preceded her in death in 2009. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Alva and Mary Evan; her brother, Bill Evans, and her sisters, Frances Bell and Shirley Stafford.
Barb is survived by her son Todd Wells, and his wife Pam; her step-son, Steve Wells; her step grandchildren, Ronnie McGuire and Shawn Fisher; great grandchildren: Ivie, Treston, and Brittany; and great-great granddaughter, Brooklyn; special friend, Shelby Stone, and many other family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Barbara’s name to Season’s Hospice of Springfield.
A visitation for Barbara will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Funeral Home North in Springfield, Missouri. A funeral service will take place on February 2, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. also at Greenlawn Funeral Home North. Interment will follow at Robberson Prairie Cemetery in Greene County.
