First time I ever met Chris was on the 1st tee at Pebble Beach in April of 2004. There was an instant connection. We were both there for a NSSGA Young Leaders meeting, but our love of golf is what brought us together and kept us friends for 20 years! Over the years we'd get back together to play golf, talk about work, how our lives were changing, how families were growing, and to just catch up.. Every so often he'd send me a pic we took that day at Pebble Beach...I cherish it! Jill and family...sorry I couldn't be there for the services...my condolences as I wish you inner peace and strength for the times ahead. All my love, Sean

My deepest condolences to all who new and loved Chris. I had the pleasure to get to know Chris through his work at the National Stone, Sand, and Gravel Association, particularly the Young Leaders. We also had a kinship by being alums of Rolla. He was always the gentleman, a down to earth guy and a real pleasure to talk to. Through our association with Young Leaders my wife Alishia and I were honored to meet Jill and get to know her and Chris together. We are both so sorry for the tremendous loss to your family, our prayers are with you.

Our heartfelt condolences to the Upp family. Chris was always a great friend throughout the years from preK through high school and college when we reconnected. Chris will be truly missed but always remembered as the wonderful friend, husband, and father he grew up to be.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.
Joe Fearn left a message on March 23, 2023:
My deepest condolences on Chris’s passing. He was kind, generous, and had a great, if a bit off kilter, sense of humor. What I’ll always remember about him was touring the quarry where he worked with him. It was supposed to be a short trip to buy some boulders. But after several hours with a clearly proud and excited “Mr. Slate” I left knowing a lot about his operation and a new found respect for geology. A truly good dude. One of a kind. He will be missed. All the Upp family has my prayers and best wishes. Sincerely, Joe Fearn

Dear Upps, My heart hurts for you all????I am thankful to Chris and you all for having Eli over so frequently. He loved hanging out in your basement. My memory of Chris is on Fall retreat. He was a well oiled cooking machine. esp. pancakes???? He had a word he kept saying which I found so funny. It was something like bazinga? I wish I could remember it. I’m praying for healing, peace, and strength for you all. Much Love! Piper Fearn

My prayers go out to the entire Upp family. As you know, he was a great guy who was liked, loved and respected in the aggregate industry. He was a wealth of knowledge it was always good to get his perspective on things. We all looked forward to seeing him, ripping each other's sports teams, etc. and generally having a good time. He's left all of us way too soon, but his legacy lives on. Chris, until we meet again, brother. God bless you. Rob Fulop

My deepest sympathy to Jill and the family. After I joined Campbell, I joined the choir and it was there I got to know Chris. I sat in the bass section and he anchored the tenors. What I remember was his dedication and his love for singing. I did not get to know him as well as I would have liked, but it was obvious he was a great man and hewill be dearly missed.

Kwame Awuah-Offei left a message on March 17, 2023:
Chris is an alum of the mining engineering program at Missouri S&T and served on the industry advisory board. I have known Chris since 2007 and he has been very supportive of our program. He attended every board meeting he could and was very quick to respond to any request. He mentored many students through the years through internships and hosting field trips. He was always willing to offer young engineers (sometimes even freshmen) a chance to develop through his internship program. I wonder how many mining engineers around the country got their first mining job under Chris. His Rolla family will miss him dearly. Our prayers go out to his wife and sons.
Jim Taylor left a message on March 17, 2023:
