Robert “Frank” Lynch, age 80, of Springfield, passed away on June 3, 2023, alongside his son and daughter. Frank was born to Cecil Lynch and Neta Jean Nelson on October 27, 1942, in Muskogee, Oklahoma. He was primarily raised in Springfield, after part of his childhood was spent in Oklahoma and Los Angeles, California. He graduated from Parkview High School, in Springfield, in 1960. Frank was united in marriage to Sharon Kay Lynch on October 23, 1962, in Harrison, Arkansas. Frank and Sharon shared 60 years of marriage before her passing on April 16, 2023. Frank had selflessly cared for Sharon in their home for the past several years as she battled dementia. The couple were blessed with two children, Lisa Todd of Springfield, Missouri and Ryan Lynch of Portland, Oregon.
Frank enlisted in the United States Army in 1962 and, after his discharge, was employed at Springfield Plating. Frank worked at Springfield Plating until his retirement in 2004. During that time, Frank helped run the business and then took over as sole owner in the 1990’s. Frank loved to fish and play golf throughout his life. Baseball, softball, and basketball also played a huge part in Frank’s life. Frank helped coach little league baseball and youth basketball and supported his grandchildren during their primary school and college basketball pursuits.
Frank was a charter member and president of the Sports Anglers Bass Club of SW Missouri, which began in 1976. Over the next 40 plus years, this group would share in memorable events and tournaments, which forged lifelong bonds and played a meaningful part of Frank’s life. During retirement, he loved to play golf with close friends, spend time and engage in witty banter with his grandchildren, and mow his property.
Frank was preceded in death by his mother and father (WWII) and Kay Hendershott (sister). He is survived by his daughter, Lisa and husband Jeff; son, Ryan; brother, James; sister, Debbie; granddaughters; Ashley, Stephanie, and Haley. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Alexis, Madison, Kaden, Makenna, and Emmie.
A visitation for Frank will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2023, from 6:00-8:00 pm, at Greenlawn Funeral Home North in Springfield. A memorial and burial service for Frank will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023, 1:00 pm, at Hazelwood Cemetery in Springfield, Missouri.
