Jack D. Boles, 82, passed from this life on July 20th, 2023 next to his beloved wife Glenda of 57 years.

Jack grew up in Carthage, MO. where he attended grade school and graduated High School. He loved going back there to visit family and friends as often as possible. He joined the Air-Force in 1959 and was stationed in several locations including Tripoli, Libya. After being honorably discharged in 1963, he moved to Springfield, MO. where he met and married Glenda in March, 1966. They had two children,  Kevin and Kristin Boles. While his kids were growing up he would often hold two jobs while attending Drury night school.
Jack loved music and after retiring in 2000, they spent much of their time traveling and attending bluegrass and gospel festivals.
Jack was an avid reader and loved learning his whole life, sometimes reading three books at one time. His knowledge of politics, finance, and The Bible were something to behold. He was always full of advice when his kids or anyone in the family needed it.
Jack’s favorite thing, besides his family, was to spend time in the woods with his dogs. Every Saturday morning was spent walking nature trails and picking up rocks. This is where he said he saw God the most.
Jack was a lover of sports, especially baseball and boxing. He knew dates and batting averages of players going back to the 1900’s and would dazzle people reciting games he had listened to on the radio as a child. In his younger days he boxed in the Golden Gloves. Jack played softball for several years including in a senior league and on a team with his daughter. He was also an amazing handball and racquetball player. He loved “diving for shots” and then telling his kids all about it. He enjoyed playing golf and in his later years he and his daughter enjoyed playing together.
Jack loved to laugh. He was always the funniest guy in the room (which he passed on to his son) and made every occasion that much better. His family admired his witty sense of humor as well as the nicknames he gave to everyone.

In later years when he became caregiver to his wife, he taught us all the true meaning of loyalty and devotion. Always putting his wife’s care first, until his last day.
Jack is survived by his devoted wife Glenda, his loving children Kevin and Kristin , a sister Lynn and several nieces, nephews, cousins and close family friend, Bianca. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a baby brother.
We know he will be waiting and watching for Glenda, just like always.

A Celebration of life and visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at Greenlawn Funeral Home North.
