Charles Edwin “Ed” Coker, 86, of Fair Play, Missouri, passed away at his home August 17, 2023, with his family by his side. Ed was born July 24, 1937, to Elbert and Evie (Clark) Coker in Fouke, Arkansas. On May 29, 1958, he married the love of his life, Wilma Floyd, and to this union three children were born.
Ed moved to the Kansas City area and began working for General Motors in 1957, where he retired after 30 years. He and Wilma moved to Fair play after retirement, where they started a small cattle operation. Taking care of his cattle farm was his lifelong dream. He always had a beautiful garden. He spent many hours on Stockton Lake fishing and hunting. Ed loved spending time with his grandkids and nieces and nephews. He was well loved and a respected man in the community.
Ed was preceded in death by his daughter, Becky, and his siblings: Norris, Harold, Coy, Blackie, and Lynda. He is survived by his wife, Wilma; son, Tom Coker (Debbie) and daughter, Pamm Andula; grandchildren: Mandi, Kenny, Keith, Mike, Andrea, Nikki, Amy, and Cody; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-granddaughters; and many other relatives and friends.
A visitation for Ed will be held on August 21, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Pitts Chapel in Bolivar. The funeral service will be held on August 22, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., at Pitts Chapel. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m., at Orient Cemetery in Harrisonville, Missouri.
