Ginny Elora Curtis was a bright light who graced our lives with her kindness, compassion, and unwavering spirit. Born on December 5, 2000, in Springfield, MO, Ginny brought joy to her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. It is with heavy hearts that we announce her passing on November 16, 2023.
Ginny’s journey through life was marked by love, compassion, and a healthy dose of dancing. She cherished time spent with friends and loved ones, trips to the river, and adventures with her beloved dog, Milo. Ginny leaves behind her mother, Karalee Curtis; her brothers, Chris Ackerson, Kyle Ackerson, and Taylor Curtis; and her sisters, Kasey Kersey and Ruth Briones Chavez.
Ginny truly cared for her friends and family, always looked for the good in others, and never met a stranger. To know her was to know unwavering love, kindness, and joy. Even in death Ginny gave to others – choosing to be a tissue donor to help save the lives of people who she will never meet. Though we mourn her passing, we are all better for having known her, and in her memory we should all strive to live with the same genuine love for others that she had.
A visitation service will be held to celebrate Ginny’s remarkable life. Join us between 1:00-3:00 pm on Friday, November 24th at Greenlawn Funeral Home South, 441 W. Battlefield Rd., Springfield, MO 65807. We will gather to remember Ginny, share stories of her kindness, joy, and laughter, and take stock of the impression she has left on each one of us. Those who knew Ginny know that she loved being comfortable, so please come as you are.

I met Ginny when we both worked at Incredible Pizza together as teens, we spent many long hours and nights laughing, and doing who knows what. But all friends have their moments and we had some of those, and we were both stubborn but Ginny never let that get in the way of checking on me. I will forever miss her big heart, smile, laugh and just how much love she showed this world. I love you sweet girl forever and always. Make sure you paint some pretty sunsets for all of us to enjoy. I met her at prom in 2019. She was so nice and as I got to know her she became a person I could talk to about things I was going through. I remember the late night phone calls talking about how life sucked and yet it was still beautiful. I was think about and suddenly heard the news. You’ll be missed Ginny. I met Ginny through a mutual friend that she grew up with, names sierra. The first time i met her, she made me feel so loved and made me feel important in this horrible world we live in. She was the sweetest soul and the most beautiful person, inside and out. She never judged anyone, she always listened to whatever you had to say. she was THE DEFINITION of a loyal, caring, true friend!!! I will always hold her near and dear to my heart and this is just absolutely devastating to many.
