Genevieve (Jean) Bachleda Lett, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend passed away peacefully on March 9, 2024, due to natural causes. Born on January 12, 1926, in Daggett, MI, Jean leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter and countless wonderful memories.
Married to Stanley Edward Bachleda in Chicago IL in 1946 they had two children – Stanley and Diane. They enjoyed living in Oak Park, IL until they retired to the Ozarks in 1977. Her husband Stanley passed away Nov. 10th, 1984. Jean was soon introduced to Avery Lett, a naval aviator veteran. They were married and spent many years traveling the world. A seasoned traveler, Jean found joy and solace in exploring the wonders of Alaska, where she discovered a passion for fishing. Spending countless hours on the waters, she honed her skills as a fisherwoman, reeling in impressive catches of salmon and halibut, a source of pride and delight for her. Known for her mastery in the kitchen, Jean’s pierogi, golumpki, and her famous kolaczkis were sought after by all who had the pleasure of tasting them. Her culinary talents brought joy and warmth to many gatherings over the years – creating a lasting bond with her family and friends.
Embracing retirement with zest and enthusiasm, Jean lived each day to the fullest, finding joy in simple pleasures and treasuring the time spent with her loved ones. Her unwavering love and dedication to her family were evident in every moment shared together, creating a bond that will last forever. Jean is survived by her son Stanley (Barbara) Bachleda, daughter Diane (Randy) Hruby, granddaughter Lauren Britton, grandson Matthew Bachleda, granddaughter Bryce Hruby and grandson Neal Hruby. She also leaves behind multiple great grandchildren Mallori, Masen, Alaina, Nicole, Heather and Ruby. During her life she also had bonus children with the Lett family – Mark, Mike, Pam and LeeAnn and many grandchildren. Their lives have been touched by her unwavering love, kindness, and wisdom, leaving an indelible mark on each of their hearts. Jean’s laughter, warmth, and culinary delights will be dearly missed, but her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her – known as Auntie Jean to her many nieces and nephews and Momma Jean to so many. As we bid farewell to a beloved mother, grandmother and friend, let us carry forward the love and joy she so generously shared with the world.
Her celebration of life will take place in Chicago in May where she will be laid to rest with her parents and family at Resurrection Cemetery. Details to follow.
