Irene Marie Reed, age 94, of Billings, Missouri, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2024, surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was born on July 5, 1929, to the late Gustav and Minnie Dahlman in Billings, Missouri.
Irene was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and a dear friend to many. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Earl. She is survived by her daughters, Deborah (Mike) Warkins and Danetta (Bill) Cannady; her grandchildren, Jeremy, Jessie, Deanna, Jennifer, and Ryan; and her great-grandchildren, Isaac, Joshua, Lucas, Matthew, Nathan, Mackenzie, Zayla, Michael, and Thomas.
Irene was a dedicated homemaker and military wife. After traveling the world as a military spouse, she and Earl made their home in Springfield, Missouri for the rest of their lives. She had a passion for bowling and sewing and was actively involved in her church community. Irene was most remembered by her grandchildren for her amazing cinnamon rolls, a testament to her love and dedication as a grandmother.
Her love for basketball was evident from her high school days, where she played on the team. This passion carried through her life and became a cherished pastime for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Irene’s kindness, and warmth touched the lives of all who knew her. She loved spending time with her friends, creating lasting memories and sharing laughter.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers and medical staff who provided compassionate care to Irene during her final days.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to St. John’s Chapel United Church of Christ or your local humane society, in memory of Irene Marie Reed.
