Peggie Ann Coletti Bohanon entered the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 24, 2024, at Maranatha Village in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of 83. She was born in Passaic, New Jersey on November 12, 1940 to parents Alfred and Emily Coletti. She worked early on as a legal secretary. When she moved with her parents to Springfield, in 1976, she worked at Assemblies of God Headquarters, writing Sunday School curriculum for young children.
In 1977, she met and married the love of her life, Evangel professor Joe Bohanon and they were married on October 21 of that year. Sons Joey and Jason were soon to follow. After the birth of her sons, she became a stay-at-home mom, though she did several writing projects over the years for the Assemblies of God, Global Communications and Global University. In the early 90s, she took two computer courses at Evangel and decided to start up a website, www.peggiesplace.com, and was a pioneer in Christian websites in the early days of the spread of the internet. For over 20 years, she ministered to countless people around the globe with her devotionals and family-friendly links. The website will continue to operate in some form.
Spirit-filled faith was a large part of her life. She was a generous volunteer, and active in her family’s church, Central Assembly, as a pianist and leading the “Middler Kingdom” for 3rd and 4th grade Sunday School classes for many years. She was blessed under the ministry of countless pastors and leaders who contributed to the spiritual education of her and her family. Even as she moved to Maranatha on a permanent basis, she would often entertain the residents by playing old hymns at dinner.
She loved chocolate, Italian food, peanut M&Ms and Sudoku. She never knew a stranger. If you happened to sit next to her on a plane, by the end of the flight you’d have exchanged life stories and gotten a business card inviting you to Peggie’s Place.
She is survived by children Joey and Jason (Maureen), grandchildren Conner and Ava, sister Ruth Clark (Frank), nephews Jon, Terry and Dennis and nieces Noelle, Jewel, Tracey, Kathleen, Shannon and Erin. She was preceded in death by husband Joe (2022) and parents Emily (1988) and Alfred (1992).
Visitation will be in the sanctuary at Central Assembly of God at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 31 with funeral to follow at 11:00 AM. Minister Don Tucker will officiate. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, we request that donations be made toward the education of her grandchildren. Those interested in making a donation may contact her son, Jason, for details.
