Reverend Kathryn “Kathy” Marie Iwasko, beloved wife of the late Rev. Ronald Iwasko, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, went home to her Lord and Savior on August 27, 2024.
Born and raised in Duluth, MN, Kathy always held a deep love for northern Minnesota and her beloved Lake Superior. If the Vikings were playing, she could be heard rooting for her home team to victory.
Kathy was united in marriage to Rev. Ronald “Ron” Iwasko on September 22, 1956, and together, they were a mighty force for the Kingdom of Heaven. Wholeheartedly devoted to Ron, Kathy walked steadily beside him as he served first in the Air Force and then as Assemblies of God missionaries, traveling the world and endlessly serving God in every capacity to which the Lord called them.
Kathy cared deeply for people, quietly listening and offering support and encouragement to all. God instilled in her a nurturing heart, which led her to pursue a BS degree in nursing, then later, a MS degree in guidance and counseling. She served as Director of the Health Center at Evangel College from 1980 to 1992. Kathy then served on staff at a local church as a Biblical counselor. Her passion was to minister to those who were wounded – to bind up the brokenhearted – whether physically, emotionally or spiritually, and eventually Kathy earned her minister’s license.
Kathryn and Ron joined the Assemblies of God missionary family in 1971 where they worked together to educate pastors and people in Brazil and in Swaziland. Ron was named President of Global University where he and Kathryn served for more than seven years, and then continued to serve as missionaries of the Assemblies of God.
Please join us to celebrate her life lived for Jesus, beginning with the visitation on Thursday, September 5, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Funeral Home East, followed by the service at 2:00 p.m., with burial after the service at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
